Zion Lutheran Church is a Christ‑centered, Scripture‑grounded, deeply relational congregation in the heart of Newberg. For more than a century, Zion has been a place where people of all ages gather to worship, grow, serve, and experience the love of Jesus in a warm, family‑like community.
We are a church that values tradition while embracing the everyday realities of modern life. You’ll find people who love to sing hymns, pray together, serve their neighbors, and walk alongside one another through every season.

Who We Are

Whether you’re exploring faith for the first time or looking for a church to call home, Zion is a place where you can belong.

Zion’s story began in 1887, when a small group of faithful families gathered to worship, study Scripture, and build a spiritual home in Newberg. Over the decades, Zion grew into a vibrant congregation known for its hospitality, its commitment to Biblical teaching, and its heart for serving the community.

From quilting ministries to youth programs, from Monday Meals to mission partnerships, Zion has always been a church that steps forward in love. Our sanctuary has seen generations baptized, confirmed, married, and sent out in faith. Through every chapter, God has been faithful—and we continue to trust Him as He leads us into the future.

Our History

It is the mission of Zion Lutheran Church to extend God’s kingdom by making disciples who know, love, and follow Christ.

We live out this mission by:

  • Worshiping faithfully through Scripture, prayer, and song

  • Teaching and learning God’s Word with clarity and depth

  • Caring for one another with genuine warmth and pastoral support

  • Serving Newberg through outreach, hospitality, and hands‑on ministry

  • Welcoming all people into a community shaped by grace

Our hope is simple: that every person who walks through our doors experiences the presence of God and the kindness of His people.
